2 in the morning
Down the road I heard it;
One
Two
Three
Four
shots fired on the east side.
They go ignored
until a man shows up
at the emergency room
with his 16-year-old son,
shot to death as a passenger
by stray bullets;
they were going to get ice cream at McDonald's.

It's strange that in America people are more afraid of talking about gun reform laws than they are of their children being shot and killed.

Fantastic! Love it. This is the type of writing I enjoy to read and write. I have some poems in my collection like this.

Do you really think that's the case, Pishashee? I just naturally assumed anyone becoming a victim of gun crime would naturally want them all banned... no?

No they should not all be all banned. I am an American citizen and I have a constitutional right to bear arms to protect myself, my family, and my home.
Lobbyists, NRA, and gun rights activist have put fear in communities, that if we talk about these things, that our 2nd amendment right will dissapear.
How can we solve the problem when the conversation is so shut down by the lobbyists and those that fear gun control?
The problem isn't just guns that are so easy to get. The problem is community: Homelessness, hopelessness, drug addiction, and the lack of the nuclear family's influence, just to say a little.
Social problems are very difficult, but the door should always be ajar to discuss things without fear.
Everyone has thier guns and everyone is suspicious of everyone else. I live in Kansas City MO where there was a shooting at our Chiefs Superbowl parade.
A KC DJ was shot and killed. She wasn't the target. Many children were injured as well. This shooting only happened because of one man was looking at another man "funny"
how pathetic!
and every fearing son-of-a-bitch is willing to pull thier gun and start firing. We can't even have parades for our children anymore? I don't have all the answers. We're all sad beyond words here, and mad. I can only start crying.

Your statements here sound completely contradictory:
"Lobbyists, NRA, and gun rights activists have put fear in communities, that if we talk about these things, our 2nd amendment right will disappear.
How can we solve the problem when the conversation is so shut down by the lobbyists and those that fear gun control?"
Your 2nd amendment will NEVER disappear sadly, as long as guns continue to bring money into the USA economy.
My ultimate wish is for the 2nd amendment to be abolished completely in the USA because I really do believe there'd be hardly any gun crime eventually then.
In the meantime, It makes sense to me to ban all automated & semi-automated weapons. There'll still be deaths of course but fewer of them.

I think if we go around changing the constitution then it can open up other doors for change unwanted. I may not know enough about it though
but I do believe that we should be able to provide protection for ourselves without the threat of being a criminal for it. Maybe people could just leave thier guns at home generally,
or just take them hunting?
"as long as guns continue to bring money into the USA economy." Yup. Spot-on, Billy. At least we're discussing it and for that I thank you.
I hate it most when people fear monger though.
