I Can Only Blame My Expectations

There is no field guide for disappointment

it sticks for days
coiling through the senses

an unspoken defeat
without resolution

merging with
an ever shifting view
of this world

absorbed
and soon ignored

And they wonder
why I walk with slumped shoulders
and passively roll through the day

I can only blame my expectations.
