Among stone fences of autumn
walk winds of lonesome sound
on woodland paths of muted cello
filled with leaves of molten gold
now patchwork landscape quilts
where once they fell from the sky
with the scent of nature's bouquet
now milkweed floats on downy wings
were ragged ferns and mistletoe grow
