List #7 Ways I Deal with Anxiety

1. Frequent trips to the refrigerator. Actually, I have to congratulate myself: I only do this maybe half as much as I did when I was younger. I mean, I can now perform incredible acts of derring-do, such as making a pint of ice cream last three or even four days! Don't laugh, I'm proud.
2. Walk the roof. I've always walked to deal with anxiety, usually at night. In Portland, I walked in the rain, and loved it. Now, I walk the top level of my parking garage, where there are panoramic views of the city. I'm fairly near the airport, and three times now I've seen a strange phenomenon: A silent arc of planes (maybe helicopters), anywhere from three to five of them. The formation is definitely organized. What could this be? Whatever it is, it's cool to watch.
3. These goofy lists.
4. Declutter. I just threw a bunch of paper down the recycle chute. Ahh...
5. Listen to my sacred classic rock songs, or watch rock videos on YouTube, such as this extra-phenomenal one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWRCooFKk3c
6. Brush my cat. She meows for it every night. I put her on a memory foam mat on the bathroom counter and talk to her while I brush her. It's calming for both of us.
7.Something that uses batteries and makes a buzzing sound.
8. Basketball, although I haven't been doing this nearly enough.
9. Read
10. Play Scrabble on my Kindle.
11. Buy stuff I do or don't need on Amazon.
12. Read menus. I will search for restaurants in places I've never been like Barrow, Alaska or Helsinki, Finland and read menus from two or three restaurants.
13. Study maps. I never get tired of looking at a map of the world, or almost any kind of map.
14. Crochet, although I kind of suck at it.
15. Talk to a few amazing friends willing to listen to me babble and seemingly not get bored.
16. Write and write some more.

Author's Note
I've been having serious anxiety about the work week ahead, which is filled with many things I'd simply rather not do. I feel calmer after writing this list.
