those who knew him said that it would be an absolute disaster if he went on the stage, since he couldn’t act for toffee and indeed, appeared to be chewing one, when trying to speak his lines.

the first night didn’t go well. some in the audience began to smirk, others to titter, which is not so good in the closing scenes of macbeth, but it didn’t matter, he thought none the worse of them, at the death     ..
