I hear the alters
the other yous that make up your soul
egos clashing within

you don't know what to lead with
so you choose cruelty
sarcasm suits you like a cold suit
all stealy lines

refined of course
I never doubt your tastes

your alter egos sting me
lashing out at my honesty
your desire crushes into me
leering at my bare spots

so I pull back

deflecting with an alter of my own
did you think you were the only one
gifted at the art of pretending?

in my unseeming way I defy you
gutter trash with a mind of my own
