Broken Rhythm
Broken Rhythm
I'm not sure
what I expected,
but I know
what I wanted.
Simply
just
to be
with you
and laugh
and feel
that sense
of trueness.
When you looked
at me
it made me feel
so ten feet tall
and when you
walked away
from me
I felt so very small.
And now,
so many years ahead,
at night alone,
perhaps
in bed
I feel
that's still
in play
that even when
your eyes avert,
it gives
the game away.
I'm not sure
what I expected,
but I know
what I wanted.
Simply
just
to be
with you
and laugh
and feel
that sense
of trueness.
When you looked
at me
it made me feel
so ten feet tall
and when you
walked away
from me
I felt so very small.
And now,
so many years ahead,
at night alone,
perhaps
in bed
I feel
that's still
in play
that even when
your eyes avert,
it gives
the game away.
