Sand Scripture

I watch as the words we wrote
so beautifully infused
with passion & hunger
with us
spread across the sands of time
slowly erode
I want to capture them
gather them up
salvage their truth
but the waters have betrayed me
washing them away
and it hurts
sitting on this island
in the middle of monsoon
without you

but as rhapsodic
winds would twist in
the bosom of a whimsical fate
waters receded only to
prophesize a tsunami of loving sentiments
washed ashore in
rolls of familiar sea scrolls
of you and I
a time capsule
bottled up and well preserved
liquored in healing elixirs of forgiveness
drenched in remnants of sticky sex
grateful how time
has found a way to come full circle
as a portrait of longing souls
beached along the poetic sands
of our isle exotica
