Shadow Feet and Danced
Can you remember that day in September?
The weather was dry and you began to cry
And I gave you my sweater
The Justice of The Peace kept his warm seat
Then he began to speak in legalese
And we shook our knees
How we danced that night beneath the stars
Like yard birds in your Mom's backyard
And the neighbors laughed
Taking my hand and following me
Listening to me as I recant, "I love you so"
And then we chant our revelry
The years have passed but memories remain
Oh how I remember dancing like yard birds
As I touch your photograph
So, sleep now, my "sweet humdinger"
And remember that day in September
When you wore shadow feet and danced
And I gave you my sweater
The weather was dry and you began to cry
And I gave you my sweater
The Justice of The Peace kept his warm seat
Then he began to speak in legalese
And we shook our knees
How we danced that night beneath the stars
Like yard birds in your Mom's backyard
And the neighbors laughed
Taking my hand and following me
Listening to me as I recant, "I love you so"
And then we chant our revelry
The years have passed but memories remain
Oh how I remember dancing like yard birds
As I touch your photograph
So, sleep now, my "sweet humdinger"
And remember that day in September
When you wore shadow feet and danced
And I gave you my sweater
