Exhaustion For Scale
As she wades through knee deep unattended fields, the tall blades snag her legs as she lifts her stride as high as she could to avoid small paper cuts.
The heat of the day scorching her face, her eyes squinting through the migraine, as sweat beads hit the open flesh on her shins and sting like a sweat bee caught unaware. She picks a shady spot up in the distance to rest.
Her bare feet catch a thorn hiding underneath her path, dang it! It's always something, she mumbles, as a tear rolls down her cheek, not really from the thorn...but it was enough to overflow her ability to cope.
With her destination reached, she gives her body permission to just stop.
Laying there, watching ants climb up the green, she wonders how many she fell on as she convinced herself it was ok to take a break.
