Image for the poem to kiss the wind

to kiss the wind

a child's bold aspirations
[No. 7 from The Children’s Collection]

“You can grow like a tall tree, when you enjoy the sun, wind, rain,
storms and the stars in the dark nights.”―Amit Ray

sometimes i want to hug a tree
and pull its sturdy trunk to me
and listen to the sap inside
its veins, where harvest secrets hide.

sometimes i want to kiss the wind
and leave perplexities behind,
as random mountains bid me rise
to taste the freshness of the skies.

sometimes i want to ride a cloud,
just to escape the noisy crowd,
reining my nimbus stallion
like an equestrian champion!

sometimes i want to catch a star
just as it plummets from afar.
perhaps one day i'll save the world
when, from its tenement, it's hurled.
