Mad Cow...Mad Momma

Im on a milk cow mission...
The first time I milked my cow I got 2 1/2 gallon of milk.
Then day by day, milking after milking, the amount dwindled.
My cow has not been on grain in the 6 months that Ive had her prior to dropping her calf and me starting my milking routine.
We paid 1600 dollars for that heifer, she gonna milk! 😂
By the time I stopped milking her, approximately three to four weeks ago, I was only getting a pint of milk twice a day.
So, all the work just wasn't worth it just to get one drink.
I turned her back out to pasture with her calf and settled it in my heart that I needed to sell her.
Well, two days ago, i came in from doing my running and she was standing on my front porch 🫣
Needless to say I spent the evening with a shovel and bleach water cleaning off the poo.
I grabbed a can of grain to coax her back into the field.
Next day, I come home and here she is standing on my front porch again, I was HOT!
This is what happens when you make a farm animal your baby 😂
I mumbled and grumbled and said, fine!!!!
You are getting put back in the milk barn!
I marched her heifer hind end to the milk shed and locked her in for the night, with the intent to get up early the next day and find the fence with the weak link. lol
So today, before I went hunting for tools to work on fence, I thought, I'm gonna milk her just for curiosities sake.
Cause I really miss that fresh butter.
I hooked up my equipment and sat my fat butt on the ground, milk was streaming from her right quarters, I placed the milker on one side for about 3 minutes or so, then switched to the back side.
When I uncapped my milk can, I had at least 2 gallons of milk. 🤔
Soooo...logical question is why?
The only thing different was that I stopped giving her grain when I turned her out with the other cows.
I'm truly wondering if the feed is effecting her milk flow.
Gonna start milking her without grain to test my theory. Lol
I'll keep ya posted 😎👌😂
