Triolet X 3

Triolet i

I've had my three-score year and ten
will I have strength for any more?
well, those years will not come again,
I've had my three-score year and ten.

All labour and sadness but, then,
dare I reach out and try for four-score
I've had my three-score year and ten
will I have any strength for any more?

Triolet  ii

I wish I was a simple dream
never needing to waken up,
knowing nothing of this world's schemes
I wish I was a simple dream,

Not knowing of eternity
needing neither to eat nor sup,
I wish I was a simple dream
never needing to waken up.

 Triolet    iii

I tasted dead flesh today
but, will I taste it tomorrow
be that as it may
I tasted dead flesh today.

We are what we eat, they say,
now, I savour sorrow,
I tasted dead flesh today
but, will I taste it, tomorrow?
