I've heard it said 'bout folk's of other lands
who'd deprive a thief of his thieving hand,
and would stone to death the adulteress
that'll take some believing, at a guess.

I have heard it said, so it must be true,
curious things about other people's who,
will cripple their kids at an early age
then send 'em to beg, to bring in a wage.

I've heard it said, but now, I am not sure,
'bout things said to be going on next door,
like the man who did for his straying wife
or the daughter, for honour, deprived of life
the kids enslaved by commerce to vice and lust
the politicians routinely betraying trust...

These things here on our shores? Nah! Just rumours
