That Eternal Now
Sometimes in lovemaking, I was only
partially there. My mind darted
between before and after. I felt the rhythm
of my husband's affection but saw images of
what had been and what might be.
Finally, he drew me into the present,
into that eternal now where all of creation
places itself in service to the making of new life.
