Rebirth Of The Phoenix
A small red flame
Seemed to hover
Within a distant copse
Like a burning
Yearning
Through a dawning mist
It lingered
Yet did not ignite
The nearby
But dry, brush
And as i drew nearer
The clarity of my perception
Grew
I looked on in wonder
As i watched a Phoenix
Turn to dust
As i approached the ashes
They glowed
Like a thousand fireflies
I stood there mesmerised
As the Phoenix
Was reborn
As the ashes
Seemed to pulsate
As a beating sun
And re-form
Into another version
Of itself
Stretching out it's colourful wings
Then fly
Into the dark, and misty sky
Vanishing from my sight
Forever
Yet a small ember remained
Which was caught on a subtle breeze
And drifted toward me
Landing on the right sleeve
of my coat
Burning into it
My coat began to glow
With a strange luminescence
As i suddenly realised
That i too
Was a Phoenix
Of a different ilk
As i sensed the ashes
Of my former self
Dissipate
Then scatter
In a wild, and withering wind
