Deep Inside

Deep Inside

Tell me,
When you look at me
Do you see what I see?
Do you see the man that's actually me,
Or do you see what you want me to be?
Do you see the man who sometimes cries,
Cause he'll never think of himself as "handsome"?
Do you see the man who skips meals,
So he'll end up classified as "skinny"?
Or do you see the one that makes sure everyone else around him?
Is happy?
The one who'll give anything to see people smile
So they don't end up broken
Like he is?
It's like looking at different sides of the moon,
He has a dark side
Can't you see he is terrified?
Did you never bother to look in his eyes,
And see the pain he tries to hide?
Notice his cries for help,
As he dies inside?
No.
You never thought twice about it
Upon hearing this you'll probably tell him he is handsome
But he won't believe you.
You haven't seen his dark side
So he is left with pathetic thanks and weak compliments.
As he tries to gather his thoughts
To determine true or false,
But most are always false.
That's why he is scared, you see,
When you call him handsome, good-looking, cute
Because that man you see?
I don't see
