Image for the poem my mother (an old photograph)

my mother (an old photograph)

there
she is,
standing tall
in
the old
photograph,
color
not invented
yet,

but,
you can
still see
a faint
smile
she carries,
her
high cheek
bones,
dark
enough eyes,
long
cherokee hair,

the love
she expresses
for me
and all
her children,
as she
lets someone
capture her
in
a photograph.
