The New Anarchy
did you forget...
how it was to have that edge?
angry at the world
because you fucking should be
instead fell into complacency
cuz that's what's expected
still pissed but now it's not as cool
you got the girl
and all the drama too
but it's cool
because you love her too
and despite this hurt
you learn and you grow
but I don't want to fall into the machine
so at night
I'll scream and shout
fuck you, I'm alright lost!
putting on the radio
I haven't heard anything like this
in a long time
peeking back at a time forgotten
or just looking at a world
that no longer accepts anarchy
I rather rage like a fucking fire
then just lay down waiting to die
afraid to face reality
being young sucks, and being old too
when you're younger
you don't have the knowledge
when your older
no one listens
and despite this hurt
you learn and you grow
but I don't want to fall into the machine
so at night
I'll scream and shout
fuck you, I'm alright lost!
daydreaming of halos
seeing my heros take their lives
mom and dad sick and retired
guess I can see the past and the future
makes me not want to be here now
working my hands to the bone
being ignored
because no one likes a truth teller
pushed over the line
but life moves on
even when it's over
