The Little Death of Sleep
Unwillingly I close my eyes,
fearful of the little death of sleep
My mind screams no, no, no as peace steals over me
My breath shallow and heart rate slows,
even my bones now welcome forgetfulness
Will I ever wake again,
I have no way of knowing
Trust and faith to believe in another day
as my spirit's finally set free
and serenity covers me in warmth and love
My last coherent thought "I love you"
fearful of the little death of sleep
My mind screams no, no, no as peace steals over me
My breath shallow and heart rate slows,
even my bones now welcome forgetfulness
Will I ever wake again,
I have no way of knowing
Trust and faith to believe in another day
as my spirit's finally set free
and serenity covers me in warmth and love
My last coherent thought "I love you"
