Hard blow

For twenty odd years
The gavel was his tool by the rules
But jealousy affects young and old alike

He did not take kindly that his dearest wife
From a friend compliments accepted and
 Made her coquettishly smile

So 'tis not the gavel but the hammer he used
On her head to strike
