Memories of Tony Barker (circa early 1970's~)

my social worker
protector
or so i first thought
i was fearful of adults
and authority
so i ought
i spoke quietly
to all of them
often mumbling out of fear
a humble mumble
as my life crumbled
he described me thus
as educationally subnormal
i had no time to fuss
he was ever so formal
a kind of dictator to me
My protector he was not
there was nothing social
about his work
he was a coercive jerk
making bad choices
with his social work
