My Savage Daughter
She was my first born
The one that I looked upon
With a perfect apgar score
No one else before
Was as good as her
Named after my
Grandmother
Just perfect
In every way
That could be
She was better than me
And I thanked God
That she wouldn't be
Anything like me
And I still believe
That she's better than me
With her Bachelor's degree
And her husband who seems
To love her
More than I ever could
More than her step dad
Ever would
Be able to
Because we weren't good
Enough for her
But that's okay
Because someday
She will see and
She'll understand
That we did everything
That we could
That we tried and
That that's not a lie
And we loved her
More than anything
That we could ever buy
I just hope she sees
The truth
Someday
The one that I looked upon
With a perfect apgar score
No one else before
Was as good as her
Named after my
Grandmother
Just perfect
In every way
That could be
She was better than me
And I thanked God
That she wouldn't be
Anything like me
And I still believe
That she's better than me
With her Bachelor's degree
And her husband who seems
To love her
More than I ever could
More than her step dad
Ever would
Be able to
Because we weren't good
Enough for her
But that's okay
Because someday
She will see and
She'll understand
That we did everything
That we could
That we tried and
That that's not a lie
And we loved her
More than anything
That we could ever buy
I just hope she sees
The truth
Someday
