The Dusk
The unimaginable transpiring into the imaginable,
can be an event of collosal joy or a voyage of unbearable pain.
The fruition of what we bravely dreamed
seasoned with a neverending ache for days when reality gleamed.
The nevers gnaw the nerves the most
With unwanted evers coming true.
The fear of it all is worse than the battle.
If I lived as if today was the only day I've been given,
Maybe I would just spend it living.
Aching with joy, abandoning pain.

The last three are my favorite part.
What if we did lives days as if they were the last?
Thanks for reading. ❤️

My sister has a sign on her kitchen wall that says “what if you were left with only the things you asked God for yesterday?”
Every time I see that sign I stop dead in my tracks and begin to re-evaluate things. Your poem did the same thing.

If we lived each day as our last, it might feel something akin to Groundhog Day, right, you know, that film comedy with Bill Murray? It's estimated he lived that same day for at least 10,000 years until he got it right, lol. In the end, though, if we've lived a long life, it's natural that we can feel fulfilled & satisfied with our time on this planet, I hope. As I've stated before, the future terrifies me when I overthink it. There was a time when I looked forward to it but there's this invisible fulcrum, right, where the balance starts tilting downwards, lol. Sorry for the waffle, saying too much I know but this is where your poem led me. 😊

I like the trip it led you on, lol.
I refuse to overthink. I want to. But don't.
Thank you for comments and checking out.
