a warning

A warning!

I saw a man with a hastily packed suitcase asking for a room
at a B/B, looking agitated, there must have been an almighty
row, which he, a mere man, had lost.
After booking in, he came down to the bar, had a large whiskey with a beer chaser, still talking to himself, saying what he had failed to say when losing the argument.
He had borrowed money and given his wife a new washing machine; we in the bar knew it would be cheaper to buy his wife a bouquet of roses.
Oh, silly man, a wife is not a maid; she does your laundry not
because she likes to, out of love and to be appreciated.
If you don't take your suitcase and go back to your wife, tell
her you are sorry, you will end up like us sitting in a bar regretting the past.
