The Road Back

The road back is the hardest to take
Every step reminds you of all your wrongs.
The sun just seems to burn more
The cold just seems to be more freezing
Everything is in the way
So that this path can kill your resolve.
You fall over and over again
You lose over and over again
All with the pain that nobody sees
As there is no one left by your side
The road back
Is a road you can only take alone
Falling, scratching and clawing
All just to take a step in the right direction
The road back
Results in the death of your ego
For what does it mean
To humble yourself
And stick to the goal in mind
You may gain some pride
However when taking that road
You lose way more than you'll gain
Then realise that it was all dead weight
This road is yours alone
No baggage needed
Just you defeating yourself
All just to try and become better
