Let Us Share Our Grief

When they made love,
Tears hidden since childhood
Pooled between her lips.
Known only by her father,
She gently unfolded to
Reveal wounds never told.

"Come, let us share our grief," he whispered.
"For your sorrows I have a cure."

Sadness fell from her body
As she surrendered to trust.
Love found new birth
In their childlike lust.

Author's Note
Another found poem written by my mother around the time I became sexually active. The photo is edited from one she took around that time.
In the first verse I see the first hint that she might have been aware of my father's earlier abuse.
