Now Swim
A day comes when you stand alone,
To find it's always been this way.
The shores were crowded,
Pesky seagulls laughing away.
The waves licking your feet,
Waters cool, inviting.
Sands soft as warmth of sun.
But on those shores,
Stood a million others,
Who said that they loved you.
Follow you, guide you,
Hate you, or don't know you.
On the shores, we stand together,
A person to the crowd.
A single grain of sand,
In a thousand other sediments.
There comes a day,
When you stand alone,
To realize it was so all along.
The waters no longer lick you're feet,
For you can reach the waves,
The sands are mud,
And the depths inviting,
Because you you're own,
With will and power-
Moved from the shores of people.
And became a person-
Independent as the waves,
That drag you away.
You stepped out on your own-
Now swim.
To find it's always been this way.
The shores were crowded,
Pesky seagulls laughing away.
The waves licking your feet,
Waters cool, inviting.
Sands soft as warmth of sun.
But on those shores,
Stood a million others,
Who said that they loved you.
Follow you, guide you,
Hate you, or don't know you.
On the shores, we stand together,
A person to the crowd.
A single grain of sand,
In a thousand other sediments.
There comes a day,
When you stand alone,
To realize it was so all along.
The waters no longer lick you're feet,
For you can reach the waves,
The sands are mud,
And the depths inviting,
Because you you're own,
With will and power-
Moved from the shores of people.
And became a person-
Independent as the waves,
That drag you away.
You stepped out on your own-
Now swim.
