Dawnings

Before dawn, early, you were there
Dreams, thoughts, memories
Awash with the sunrise
The cool yet warm of summertime
Breathing
Bird songs, greens
The tender, soft of blueing sky
Deep shadowed beneath the trees
Echoes of swift fleeing night

And I wonder if you think of me
As I do you
As I do you
In these moments when stillness lies
Unbroken seal on heart wished dreams

Dream of me as I think of you
In thoughts which live and breathe
Whose moment whisper awakenings
Of all that yet shall be

You the very summer air
The dream, the dawn
Slow southern drawled
Like backwoods streams
And stirring breeze
All drifting to their purposed end

Be there for me
