if we die long enough
"Whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life
for my sake will find it."—Matthew 16:25
if we live long enough,
we will all die someday;
for, sooner more than late,
death catches up with life.
the tenement is rough,
where dreams are forced to play,
yielding no scant rebate
to pacify our strife.
if we die long enough,
we will all live someday;
tho later still, than soon,
life catches up with death.
the path of peace is tough:
spilled blood brushmarks the way;
the moments—how jejune,
as grinds each fleeting breath!
if we love long enough,
murder shall someday cease
to darken every sky;
for soon, our change will come,
leaving hate in-the-buff;
then, darkness shall release,
to immortality,
the blest yearning for home.
