Afternoon Delights
Full summer sun, where the dragonflies patrol
Past birdbath moss and the foxglove bells
In search for where the mosquito dwells
To keep their vast numbers under control...
Then steady on past the rosemary shrub
Or the black and raspberry bramble canes
And creeping roses on postbox remains
Rustier than a dead billionaire's sub
Or the derelict wheelbarrow that sits
By the old creaking cedar fence out back;
Silent only when the breezes are slack;
That same sky the mosquito hunt permits
As an adventure tour suburban...
Submerged safely...with a glass of bourbon!
Past birdbath moss and the foxglove bells
In search for where the mosquito dwells
To keep their vast numbers under control...
Then steady on past the rosemary shrub
Or the black and raspberry bramble canes
And creeping roses on postbox remains
Rustier than a dead billionaire's sub
Or the derelict wheelbarrow that sits
By the old creaking cedar fence out back;
Silent only when the breezes are slack;
That same sky the mosquito hunt permits
As an adventure tour suburban...
Submerged safely...with a glass of bourbon!
