Knitted Together.
I nigh near wrote your name down on this page
as if in incantation by some witch,
with my finger-pricked-blood, a bloody wage
for imps to weave time with some magic stitch.
Woven in cable-stitch, great knotted nets,
that I could cast through closed pattern's of time,
to net my dropped pearl from time's knittedness
and sew you fast to me in sweet fair-isle.
But our time unraveled to tangled skeins
with tight knots too numerous to undo,
frantic scissoring couldn't cut to dreams
I guess those silken threads were just worn through.
It might be, all ties that bind must soon part,
But the old needles still, stab, through my heart...
