Don't go
Stay at home lad,
Help me in the field,
The fate of Europe is already sealed,
Go back to the barn and grab the hoe,
Let real soldiers fight the foe,
Put on your caddy and not a helmet,
After harvest go to town and sell it,
The wailing of sirens, is that not enough?
Killing innocent men, that must be tough,
Here in Ireland you are safe with me,
Son, this is where you should be,
Your brother has left and we will not lose you,
This is a war to save the Jew,
You are are a coward, to leave your mother and I,
If you abandon me I will not say good bye,
Do I not plead enough to keep you here at my side?
Will being a soldier give you much pride?
Without your presence your mother will go mad,
Please, stay at home and help me in the fields, young lad.
Father, I admire your pleas to make me stay,
I will leave home tomorrow at mid day,
I prefer a rifle, its a better fit,
I will march the roads in France moonlit,
Nothing with stop me when I see the whites of their eyes,
They will know where true strength lies,
I throw down my scythe, shovel, and hoe,
Off to England I will go,
I aim to be the best of the best,
And when I come home, medals will hang from my chest.
Go forth and never look back,
Roll up your blanket and rack,
Get out of my sight and never come home,
Pack your clothes, shoes, and comb,
You are of no help to us anymore,
Go, Get out! Go fight in the war!
I will be back in three years,
Wipe away all your tears,
A hero I will be,
