Don't Forget

Though our time has come to an end,
With no more seconds for a clock to send,
My heart is still beating and I'm still feeling,
All these words you left me with are keeping me reeling.
I admit my frustration when you don't answer my word,
I admit my depression when I speak but am not heard,
My flaws are not all that easy to deal with sometimes,
And that's why I cope by speaking these ryhmes.
I don't ask for much as you walk away from me,
I'm not asking for you to treasure our precious memory,
All I ask is that by the end of the day,
You won't forget who I am, won't let me fade away.
Perhaps I am just a fool who has stepped in water too deep,
And now I must struggle as my demons and shadows creep.
But I do know that the love I hold for you is true,
And it leaves me so helpless that I don't know what to do.
But you're still walking away,
And time is ticking away today.
So when you glance back over your shoulder and I'm gone,
Keep a hold on my memory and carry on.
Don't forget the way I used to smile,
Or the way I'd think of you and sigh.
Don't let my heart fade away into oblivion,
And tell the men who hurt me I finally forgive them.
Body smacks frozen water and taints it red,
Funny how people start listening after you're dead.
