Past Tense
Garish by design I cling to you like shadow
You're more than just a smile
Upon cold wrath of this waging sea
I etched a prayer for you into my skin
It wards away the dark
Along with bruised patience I grew tired of
Whispers calling on what I cannot dare to say
Soaked in ashes your name
And oh god I still wish you were here
I was fool enough to be your pawn
But not sane enough to brave the dawn
I am all alone yet all surrounded
By all the years and yeah I counted
I had a friend
I was their fever
I let them choke
I let you down.
