I want joy for you,
wide vines of hope
extended on electric daybright,
want you to have
all you wanted
in those darkest nights,
when fingers laced
cobbled rain,
when you were broken,
when I watched.
I want those eyes to be brighter
when devouring their met partner,
sparks to fly sharper,
and yet somehow softer,
to hold you, to hold you tendering,
to let you fall, safely.
I want happiness there,
and the distance necessary to let that set in.
I'd never accept anything lesser
in your world and nor
could I return
to being some minor piece,
some half-hearted act
not when it exists this plainly,
not when it refracts this light.
