The love she gave so easily
came back to her as emptiness.
The new loves she sought
will bring only death in their wakes.
Rather than bearing children in love,

Yes. Intentionally left it to the reader though it the actual story, it was her abusive partner.

In the picture she looks as if she got her fill of good sex if she knew she was likely to die at his hands afterwards.
