Thief In The Market
At Linstead Market, amidst the hustle and bustle,
A scene of thievery did unfurl and rustle.
My aunt and I sought vegetables fresh and fair,
As the aroma of the market filled the air.
The scotch bonnet peppers, of many colours and firm,
And richly red tomatoes, that made our mouths water and squirm.
As my aunt made her purchase, I looked around,
And witnessed a crime that left me astounded.
A girl with a knife, slicing a bag with stealth,
Taking advantage of a fat lady's health.
The people around were oblivious, unaware,
Caught up in their own shopping affair.
Fear gripped me as I watched the thief,
Inching closer with the knife, like a prowling chief.
I held onto my aunt, trembling in fright,
Praying for the thief to pass me by and take flight.
Soon the thief's eyes met mine, and I feared the worst,
But she passed me by, as if I was just a ghost.
I told my aunt, and she raised the alarm,
Calling out the thief's crime, to prevent further harm.
The thief was caught, trying to rob another soul,
And she started to run, with the police in control.
Though I was slow, we joined in the chase,
And arrived at the scene, to see justice take place.
The police had caught her, after robbing three,
And the fat lady's bag was all that she could seize.
The thief was arrested, and justice was served,
As the people of the market breathed a sigh of relief.
A scene of thievery did unfurl and rustle.
