Printed Confetti

Playing Solitaire, by twilight
with a mirror for a view,
silence is a muted carousel,
realizing.
The emperor has no clothes,
without laughter or dreams
or speckled owls in trees,
realizing,
No marching bands
or 76 trombones,
just a narcissistic shadow,
in a one-shadow band,
of self, and printed confetti.
