A Temporary Reprieve
A shadow looms, a memory stays,
A moment in time, that never strays.
Terror boiling deep inside,
A pain that never fades, nor abides.
Life goes on, the world still spins,
But in your head, the anguish begins.
Crippling anxiety, that holds you tight,
A fear-filled thought is never far from sight.
The things that once brought joy and peace,
Are now triggers for the memories that never cease.
The present is but a cruel reminder,
Of the pain that's ever-kindled.
But in the midst of the storm, there's still a light,
A temporary reprieve, that eases the fight.
It's the liquid courage that sets you free,
The singing voice that offers release.
So you stand up, and grab that mic,
And with each song, you take the night.
A temporary escape from the fear,
A moment of peace that's oh so dear.
Maybe it's not the answer, to carry on,
And rely on a liquid high until the dawn.
But it's a sliver of hope, that's needed to survive,
A sign that life can be worth the drive.
Hold on to the moments that bring you grace,
And know that better times are more than just a chase,
Reach out and find the help you need,
To live a life that's free indeed.
A moment in time, that never strays.
Terror boiling deep inside,
A pain that never fades, nor abides.
Life goes on, the world still spins,
But in your head, the anguish begins.
Crippling anxiety, that holds you tight,
A fear-filled thought is never far from sight.
The things that once brought joy and peace,
Are now triggers for the memories that never cease.
