Modern Conveniences - Part One

We live in a high tech home
replete with magical objects
heretofore not seen in the marketplace
be amazed nay downright envious
as I, in detail, elucidate

Our dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
are visible to all
when stowed in drawers
or placed on a shelf
however, when they’ve been soiled,
placed in the sink
they become completely invisible
to every inhabitant
except for myself
and if one wants to wipe the table,
scrub countertops and such
the sponge has a chip embedded
that responds only to my touch
I suspect it’s a security feature
encoded at purchase
although this theory
is given short shrift
for items received
as wedding gifts

The aforementioned phenomena
has karma attached
because this poem
might have been written easily
by my estranged wife about me
