Rivers of the Sky: A Poem about Climate Change
The planet's burning like a fever,
And we're feeling the heat.
It's time to take action,
Before we face defeat.
The streams of cloud and air,
A force beyond compare,
A gift from Mother Nature,
A source of life and danger.
Atmospheric rivers:
A wonder of nature.
A long and endless flow of water high,
A stream that blesses or curses us.
The snow that falls from the sky,
A gift from rivers high,
A source of joy and wonder,
A sight that makes us ponder.
But as the climate changes,
And the rivers rage more often,
The water from the sky that once brought us delight
Now brings us fear and fright.
The future is uncertain;
We urge you to act now and fast.
To save our planet's health,
Bury the carbon that chokes the sky
Before it's all too late.
Oh, the streams of cloud and air!
They're a force beyond compare.
And when they bring us snow and rain
On parched earth they are gifts from another domain.
But as our climate starts to change
And these streams become more strange
We beg you to act now to save our fate
And reduce our footprint before it's too late.
So let's work together now
To save our planet's health somehow
And let's protect these gifts we've been given
So we can keep on living.
As we look up at the sky so blue
Let's remember what we need to do.
Bury the carbon and save our fate
Before it's too late.
The alarm clock is ringing loud and clear
It's time to wake up and face our fear
We still have a chance to make things right
If we act now with all our might.
And we're feeling the heat.
It's time to take action,
Before we face defeat.
