Passing through Auburn
beginning the accent to Donner Pass
fringe of blanched blanket
glistens on forest floor
distant, majestic granite behemoths
wear only frosty, alabaster skull caps
gradually dressing till completely robed in white
roll down Mercury station wagon window
elated by first embrace of chilly hibernal air
accompanied by intoxicating scent of sugar pines
Squaw Valley in the rear-view-mirror
Impatient excitement intensifies
just thirty minutes to go

I’ve never been to these places and enjoyed the images through your experience of them. I’m trying to recall family vacations but the memories drudged up are long road trips with everyone fighting. Lovely piece. H🌷
