Slicing Tears

Through murkey mental waters, she wades
Wishing its water to drain, the memory fades
Moving, deeper in she goes
What lay in wait, no one knows

Tired, so very tired of swimming
She stops to rest, her mind is dimming
No longer swimming, now she's floating
Drifting amidst her thoughts, no noting

The girl awakened it, as it seems
The thing that sleeps beneath the sea of dreams
Somethings off, a change in the tides
She's swam too long, it no longer hides

Torrent waves come crashing down
Pulled down by thoughts, beginning to drown
Down, down, listening to silent sea sounds
She startles awake, her mind and body rebounds

Hot tears stream down her face
They cut so deep, and remain in place
A memorial blade of the memory played
Hidden she kept it, and the price she paid

Author's Note
There are traumas we experience in our lives, present and past. Many times we repress those memories rather than confront them. However, eventually they work their way back to the surface. Don't wait until it's too late. If you have something balled up inside you, be brave, ask for help, and work past it.
