Walternate Universe FFU28-4

On the fourth night of my secret epic parallel universe travel
TOTO sent me to a world where I’d been a successful writer
“Be careful” he said as the lines across his monitor face frowned
“Here you are very cunning, so this mission may be an all nighter”

“What’s the deal with him, why am I coming here?’ I asked
“For a while he’s been going through a bout of depression
In his latest book he’ll subliminally write a chapter on suicide
And many of his readers will kill themselves over their obsession”

Within minutes I finished reading the mission plan and strategy
Not sure how I’d be able to change his mind let alone where he stood
But as I jumped and came into this universe I was a bit baffled
My alternate lived in a nice home in an upscale neighborhood

He was in his living room sitting on a couch writing in his laptop
Listening to jazz of all music as he drank heavily and alone
There were pictures all around of his wife and children
They were also my alternate family but they weren’t home

The briefing said he had constantly cheated and became violent
So his wife took the children and left him to wallow in his misery
All I was supposed to do was erase the chapter from his novel
But I’m sure he’d re-write it and get over the erased mystery

I walked right up to him and he immediately stood up puzzled
“Don’t do it” I told him “don’t write what you’re going to write
There are lives and other worlds that are depending on you
Get your shit together and just make it right”

“How is this possible?” he started but I interrupted him
“You know this in your heart, we are one in the same
Take this novel in a different direction and I swear to you
I can show you something that’s bigger and better than fame”

He looked at me like I was crazy and said “why are you talking in rhyme”
“Because that’s what I do, I’m Wallyroo, number 92”
“If you don’t get out my house in the next five seconds I’m shooting you”
“See Walter” I said with palms up toward him “now you’re rhyming too”

Just then my brace starting beeping and TOTO’s voice came on
“This wasn’t part of the plan 92” he said sounding annoyed
“What is that, who is that?” he asked me as he came closer
“Can I take him for a jump?” I asked the frustrated android

“Absolutely not” TOTO replied with his robotic voice getting higher
“Come on” I said “if he sees the endless possibilities he won’t be depressed”
“NO!” the answer came back “that is strictly against the rules!”
“TOTO, I’m feeling compelled to do it” I said feeling more pressed

“I can show you the world” I sang, “shimmering, shining and splendid”
“What are you talking about?” he said sounding frustrated
“A whole new…wait, Aladdin, Dis…ya’ll don’t have Disney out here?”
“What is Disney?” he said and that’s when I became agitated.

I reset the coordinates for my universe along with a new location
I opened the portal and his eyes opened wide like he was scared
Before he had time to react I pushed him through and we both jumped
Back to my world and for this, not even TOTO had been prepared…

We sat at a café and talked all night until the early that morning
I then took him to the amusement park and we spent the day
We rode rides, ate food, watched the shows and had lots of fun
There was a joy in his eyes when we watched the fireworks display

At 11:11pm I opened the portal and we went back to my handler
TOTO was furious but saw my alternates intentions has been deterred
“You were right” he said, “I’m going to take the book in new direction
Then I’m going to open up an amusement park and call it – Wally World”

“Bro” I said “that could be copyright infringe…” I paused “ah forget it -
You’re probably good with that one, I’m sure it’ll be a gold mine”
TOTO opened up another portal for my alternate to go back
We hugged and before he stepped through he said “I’ll be fine”
