Alone with My Dread
In the depths of my despair,
I find solace in the darkness there.
For the light has long since fled,
Leaving me alone with my dread.
The weight of the world upon my chest,
Each breath a struggle, each beat a test.
The black dog of depression has come to stay,
And I cannot seem to chase it away.
My mind a prison of tangled thoughts,
A labyrinth of pain, a web of knots.
The demons whisper in my ear,
Telling me all that I should fear.
The razor's edge a tempting call,
A way to escape it all.
But I know the pain would only grow,
If I were to take that final blow.
So I sit in my despair and wait,
For a glimmer of hope to change my fate.
But it seems that hope has fled,
Leaving me alone with my dread.
