Sand
Sand
Many people enjoy its texture
But few take time to consider
Its long-awaited journey to
Its current form of existence
The shifting of plates
The molten of magma
The breaking of wind
And water upon rock
The way it falls between your finger tips
The way it clings to your bikini bottoms
The way it fills your fondest memories
Yet so many take this granite for granted
They don't see that this once mighty mountain
Stood tall in the sky and broke storms at her peaks
They don't see all the little tragedies that
broke
Her apart, piece by piece...
The distance she's travelled
The storms she's weathered
All to make her way here
To this sun-filled beach
I see this sand as the mountain she once was
Still is...
I still see her in all her glory
Unwavering
Unyielding
Unwilling to be torn apart...
Though she may be battered and broken to most
I still gaze upon her soaring peaks above the clouds
This fine granular sand held in my heart
Still casts shadows across the plains
It still rises to heights even the Titans
themselves dare not reach to behold
She is still a goddess amongst men
And I long to hold her...
