Anxiously Awaiting

What a sight you are
Sitting over there
Blissfully unaware
Sandstone hue
Fire flickering behind you
Your thoughts are embers
Warm as a picnic
Dancing and serenading
Lost in some long gone day
You’re sunbathing by a brook
Floating gently in a warm stream
Looks like healing
For a fleeting moment
You’ve forgotten
We’re all after you

When you see me
Seeing you
Red light hue
A flash-bang gaze
Cast upon you
Turpentine floods the room
One long deep breath
Before ignition
A face ablaze
Pulse pounds at your neck
Searing lungs gasp
At poison breath
Feels like panic
We found you

Restless hands pull
Curtains up
Splatter paint hue
Draw back inside that
Threadbare womb
Don the Damascus
Iron ore will and testament
Calloused hands are
Cloaked and ready
To blend and move within
You pretty shapeshifter
If you do everything right
We may lose your scent
Until your next
breath of warm air
The tail gags the snake
