Initium Finis
What is this game of life we play?
A depressing afterthought of indifference
Where no one is deemed a winner
Yet, no one loses either
Flowers fade, and flowers bloom
Daylight breaks, and darkness falls
Still some remain, while others fade
In this game of life we play
People marry, then divorce
A child is born, a mother dies
Earth is scorched, yet called progress
In this game of life we play
At screens we look, scroll and scroll
The food we eat, gorge and repeat
Drugs smoked, and alcohol drank
In this game of life we play
Another piece, another move
Two steps ahead, two steps behind
For we are playing both sides, checkmate
In this game of life we play
Temper and cherish this time you have left
At every turn you face life
At every turn you face death
In this game of life we play
The beginning of the end
A depressing afterthought of indifference
Where no one is deemed a winner
Yet, no one loses either
Flowers fade, and flowers bloom
Daylight breaks, and darkness falls
Still some remain, while others fade
In this game of life we play
People marry, then divorce
A child is born, a mother dies
Earth is scorched, yet called progress
In this game of life we play
At screens we look, scroll and scroll
The food we eat, gorge and repeat
Drugs smoked, and alcohol drank
In this game of life we play
Another piece, another move
Two steps ahead, two steps behind
For we are playing both sides, checkmate
In this game of life we play
Temper and cherish this time you have left
At every turn you face life
At every turn you face death
In this game of life we play
The beginning of the end
