Abandonment

blame the poem
for any and all problems,
for the lack of light in the cinema,
because no one sings
"the girl from Ipanema".

blame the poem
because there is always a drama,
there is always one,
as small as accurate, scheme
thus in Tegucigalpa, Paramaribo,
Uagadugu or Rome.

blame the poem
and poetry yourself
in endless verses,
poetry yourself in rhymes
you invented on the beach,
poetry yourself in themes
and theorems
that you will not reach.

blame the poem
and blame embroidery
and not the sewing,
blame the scar
and not the suture stitching,
forget, on the skin, the presence
of that eternal itching.
